STAR Online Order Service™ FAQ and Tips

Do I need a special username & password or can I just start ordering online?   At this time you do need to complete the STAR Online Order Service registration form.
How long does it take for you to setup my STAR Online Order Service?   In most cases we have your account setup and ready within 24 hours.
If we move or any of my account info changes, can I fix it online?   Yes.  You can change your shipping address, phone and other related account information using Account Info
Can I get confirmation on orders that I placed so that I know when you processed the order?  

Yes.  You can receive confirmation by e-mail or fax.  This confirmation will contain all the important order information such as price, quantity and projected ship date (if not today).   Please inform your D&D inside sales rep by phone or online, using Account Info / Message Users, or send an e-mail to star@ddtool.com.

If I don't know what product I want, how can I search for the correct product?

 

You can search in any of the following ways:

  • search your previous purchases for the same item using My Previous Orders
  • search by product number from a previous D&D invoice using Products
  • search by product line such as Milwaukee, Dewalt, or 3M using Lines
  • search by your own custom part numbers (after you inform us what they are) and using Products
  • search by product family IE: Drills, Glue, Tape using Families
  • you can establish a "product group" surrounding maintenance of certain machinery or projects to order that group of products various times.  This is established initially by clicking View Product Groups to setup the group.  After that just click My Product Groups.
Can I start an order and get back to it later without it getting processed?   Yes, by choosing Save Cart you can get back to it later. Each time you logon to STAR Online Order Service™ you will be reminded that a cart from a previous visit is waiting.  You can re-enter the cart or bypass to start a new cart.
Can I review my current OPEN orders or see BIDS that I have requested over the phone with an inside D&D rep?   Yes.  You can review all open ORDERS or existing BIDS that have been established for your account from Account Info / Open Orders/Bids
If I need some assistance while online, can I send an instant message requesting that someone contact me now or later?   Yes.  You can send a message using the Account Info / Message Users.  Please be sure to include the best way and when you wish to be contacted.
My accounts payable department sometimes needs a copy of a previous invoice.  Can I view and print this online?   Yes.  You can view previous invoices by date range using Account Info / Print Invoices.
My accounts payable department would like to reconcile your statement to their records.   Can this be done?   Yes.  Using Account Info / Account Ledger or Account Info / Account Inquiry.   They have subtle differences but between them you can view previous orders, payments and credits.
I'm having trouble finding items online when searching by part # from your print catalog.   When you are searching for a part # enter all the numbers/letters without spaces.
IE. for part # ABC 234-6868, enter ABC2346868.  Do not be concerned about leaving out characters (IE. ABC2346) as this will only add more items to your search. However, erroneous characters (even spaces) may exclude your item from the search.
I cannot find an item but I know you can get it for me.  How do I order it?   Type "MISC ITEM" in the product search field <ENTER>.  From the results choose MISC INVENTORY ITEM and enter the appropriate quantity then "ADD TO CART".  Upon reviewing your order prior to SUBMIT, simply type as much information as possible in the field under each item and/or in the Order Comments at the bottom.  This may include brand name, size, model # and use of the product.  We'll call you with additional questions.
